Thank you for taking the time to visit our school. I enjoyed watching my students take such great interest in your presentation. We talked back in our room about your life, what you had to overcome and your positive attitude. We looked at a map to find your home country and some of the students wondered how you were able to crawl across the ocean.

We took the time to write and tell you our thoughts about your visit. My students are about eight years old and so do not have a fully-developed understanding of the work. I apologize if some of their questions seem inappropriate or personal. We discussed the kinds of questions and comments to include, but sometimes I miss something.

I met Samuel over a year ago when he sheared his compelling story at a teacher conference.  He is an exceptional speaker with a personable and open style of storytelling.  After hearing Samuel speak, I knew his story was one that I wanted my students to hear firsthand. For example, one student approached me after his presentation and wanted to know how she could fund raise to help other children with disabilities.  Another student who I was unable to motivate in doing his assignments became interested in passing my class because of Samuel’s message- “Never give up.”

Perseverance is a character trait that needs bolstering among today’s young people.  Samuel is the perfect person to uplift and inspire out students to triumph over challenges.
